A Look At Guaggi, The Sportswear Urging Consumers To "Get Up And Go Get It"
If you follow me, you know I keep an eye out for fire shit that people are doing. It’s why I created this blog, CISED (Celebrate Ill Shit Every Day). Well, I came across a bubbling brand that is doing dope things. That brand is Guaggi, a sports brand out of Buffalo that has been gradually growing since about 2014. Guaggi is an acronym for “Get Up And Go Get It.” I sat down with Guaggi’s founder, Jay Turlz, for an exclusive interview with Don Diva Magazine and his story is impressive, especially if you’ve been trying to get a fashion line popping.
Jay went from being a petty gun peddler and stick-up kid to being one of the emerging designers in the sportswear market. A few years ago, he started out making hats with Guaggi on it, then bossed up and copped a vinyl cutter to make t-shirts. It’s crazy because he was applying his vinyl prints with an iron since he didn’t have a heat press. He eventually leveled up and got a heat press then hit the road, making bi-monthly trips from his crib in Charlotte to Buffalo where he’d pump tees out of the trunk of his rental at various gas stations.
Jay doesn’t have to sell tees out of his trunk now. He’s got a website, a manufacturer and has developed a following of over 10,000 on Instagram. A lot of the newer gear is sold out, but I have my eye on the *Rubikon* "Figure It Out" 3D Embroidered Hoodie (below). I think I can get into a 2X when I get my bread right. I wish they still had the Guaggi’s breakout “Bread Winner” tee, because that shit is also fire (also below).
