Lowfool // Schemer x Fools Paradise

Lowfool // Schemer x Fools Paradise

I’m not a big comic fan, but like so many others, The Dark Knight is a movie that I thoroughly enjoyed and will watch any time it’s on. Naturally, while scrolling social media, a new, soon-to-be-released art toy based on the blockbuster caught my eye. It is the Lowfool // Schemer figure by Fools Paradise and it is awesome.

If you are somehow unfamiliar, the superhero saga is one of the most memorable chronicles of wealthy vigilante Batman taking on The Joker, his #1 nemesis. The Joker is played by Heath Ledger who delivered a maniacally brilliant performance shortly before he tragically passed away. One of the notable scenes is when the villain clown blows up the hospital in the city of Gotham while wearing a nurse’s uniform. Shortly before detonating multiple explosives that obliterate the medical center, The Joker visits the bedridden Harvey Dent telling the disfigured district attorney that the mob, cops, Commissioner Gordon and Dent himself are schemers. The Joker’s goal was to show them “how pathetic their attempts to control things really are.“

The Lowfool // Schemer takes on the broad, hulking, muscular physique that is synonymous with the Lowfool series (past iterations drew inspiration from Batman, He-Man and Dragonball Z). The vinyl figure stands at a towering 13” and plays on The Joker’s appearance in the nurse’s uniform with a detonator in hand and Harvey Dent name tag on the chest. A comical touch is the green mustache that is fixed atop the infamous, severed smile. The limited run of 398 pieces is available for presale at $268 a pop (plus $40 for global shipping).

As an amateur toy collector, I’d gladly add this piece to my fledgling collection. It speaks to me as a Dark Knight fan and as someone who can appreciate some lighthearted darkness. It’s such a dope, limited piece of work that I’m certain the value will accrue over time. With an expecting shipping date of April 2021, there’s plenty of time to grab while they last.

You can cop a copy of the Lowfool // Schemer at the official Fools Paradise website as well as other independent retailers.
