Coronavirus Action Figures x Death By Toys
Unless you’ve been under a rock, you are well aware of COVID-19, more commonly known as coronavirus. The mounting pandemic has caused the postponement or flat-out cancellation of major events around the world and has even shut down the entire country of Italy. Though this may scare many, even more have coped with potential catastrophe through jokes. Included in that number is the aptly named designer toy company Death By Toys, “a one-man action figure shop specializing in handmade, limited edition collectibles from your favorite horror/cult/retro franchises” that contain “lethal levels of nostalgia.” The Chicago-based outfit recently dropped new coronavirus “action figures.”
DBT kept it short and sweet with the advertisement on its blog:
Coronavirus is a sensation that's sweeping the globe. Get on the bandwagon with these charming Coronavirus Action Figures.
I made a bunch and put them in the store, so VISIT MY STORE TO GRAB ONE before they sell out or before we all die.
According to DBT’s Instagram account, the first batch of 20 copies sold out quick at $35 a pop. The IG account stated:
I don’t know. I thought it was pretty funny. Might be tempted to buy some when DBT re’s up. Maybe years from now, if we’re still here, it can be a good laugh piece.
