MeWeFree | Christopher Chan Exhibiting His First Interactive Art Display At The Spring/Break Art Show
If you’ve been following me, you may be able to tell that I’m an amateur art fan. There’s just something about fire artwork that makes me happy. Just knowing that human beings are capable of creating art, simplistic and elaborate, just puts my mind at ease and sparks my own imagination (though I don’t have any talent for visual art whatsoever).
I came across these pieces while scrolling IG today and thought they were awesome. They are by Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary artist Christopher Chan a.k.a. Honorroller. As part of the Spring/Break Art Show’s 2020 fair in NYC which opens today and will be operating until March 9, Chan is showing his first interactive exhibit, “As Long as I’ve Got My Health, and My Millions of Dollars, and My Gold House, and Rocket Car, I Don’t Need Anything Else.”
Chan is known for his blocky sneaker sculptures featuring the Jordan I, Air Force 1, Chuck Taylor and Air Max. He also did a dope sculpture of the late A$AP Yams, which is now a part of A$AP Rocky’s personal collection. Though I do like artwork featuring things we’ve never seen before, I also like work that puts a creative spin on popular things such as sneaker culture and music. The sneaker piece is smart to me, since hypebeasts are always looking for something to match their kicks (as a broke hypebeast, I use the term “hypebeast” with love). Check out his work below (it is unclear if these pieces will be included in the show).
